What this site knows about you
The short version: we collect nothing about you. There are no accounts, no forms and no analytics of our own. What follows is what the services this site runs on can see, so you can judge that for yourself.
Nothing. The site has no sign-up, no comments, no contact form and no analytics or tracking scripts of our own. We do not know who reads it, and it is built so that we never need to.
Hosting. Netlify serves every page. Like any web host, it sees the requests your browser makes, including your IP address. How it handles them is set out in Netlify’s privacy policy.
Fonts. The site’s typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google’s servers, which see that request the way any server would. Google describes what it does with it in the Google Fonts FAQ.
This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google picks which ads appear through its own auction. No advertiser sees a score before it is published, and none has any say in what we write.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Google’s Ads Settings, and out of other participating vendors’ personalized ads at aboutads.info. How Google uses information from sites that carry its ads is set out in Google’s own explanation.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google shows you a consent message first, and ads are personalized only if you agree to it. If you visit from a US state with its own privacy law, Google shows a link that lets you opt out of your personal information being sold or shared for advertising.
Our sources, the YouTube channel and the merch store are other people’s sites and run under their own privacy policies. The merch store is run by Fourthwall, so anything you enter there goes to them rather than to us; their terms are in Fourthwall’s privacy policy.
